Treasures in a Trunk: My work with Margaret Wise Brown's unpublished manuscripts
An indepth look at the manuscripts left behind by the prolific author. Ms. Gary shows examples of the unpublished works of Margaret Wise Brown and the detective work involved in getting these work into publication. Through this analysis of the works, a picture of the genius behind the writing emerges. The timeless nature of her writing is proven through the ability of her work to reach children 50 years after these manuscripts were locked away in a trunk in her sister's barn attic in Vermont.
In addition, Amy talks about the way Ms. Brown approached writing, and explains why the techniques she created over 50 years ago are still applicable today and will hold a question and answer session after the talk for all levels of writers or illustrators who want to know more about how the children's book publishing business works.
