Using speeches and writings by the "guru" of children's book writing, Amy Gary shows writers how Margaret Wise Brown created hundreds of works for children. Directed at all levels of writers, beginner or long-time professional, this presentation relies heavily on the way Ms. Brown approached writing, and explains why the techniques she created over 50 years ago are still applicable today and why her books Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny are perennial best selling books. Ms. Gary also talks about the recently published works and unpublished manuscripts by Ms. Brown.

Managing Margaret: An agent's perspective on the publishing business

This presentation focuses on the discovery by Ms. Gary of over 300 unpublished works by Margaret Wise Brown, and details her work to get these manuscripts into publication. Ms. Gary discussing the changing terms of contracts and manuscript editing from the early days of children's book publishing to today. This talk is directed toward writers working in the field of children's books, although anyone interested in the children's book business will find this topic useful.
